    This week we rolled out the engineer, the latest Guild Wars 2 profession. A versatile profession who uses all manner of mechanical devices on the battlefield, the engineer opens up new horizons of gameplay possibilities to crafty players. Read on for a sampling of reactions to the multi-purpose engineer!

    Gamespot posted a nice preview of the engineer gameplay, saying the profession  “…will work wonders in controlling space and setting up defensive perimeters while providing strong support to teammates. IGN is optimistic about the new profession, which they say embodies the changes in technology between Guild Wars 2 and its predecessor.

    Kotaku took a look at the new profession and liked what they saw. Mike Fahey asks and answers the all-important question, “How does a mechanical genius survive on the battlefield? I suppose the bombs help.”

    After an in-depth look at the engineer, Massively concluded, “The engineer sounds like an incredibly versatile and formidable class — arguably even more so than some we’ve seen for Guild Wars 2 previously.”

    PC Gamer appreciated the versatility of the profession, writing, “…no other profession has as many ways to completely swap the tools at their disposal as the engineer does.”

    Over in Europe, French gaming site JeuxOnline, German site Onlinewelten and Buffed.de all took a deeper look at the new profession.

    The engineer was big news Down Under as well. NZ Gamer interviewed GW2 Lead Game Designer Eric Flannum about the new profession, while Aussie site Game Arena talked to Eric about the random nature of the engineer’s unpredictable Elixir X.
